The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SBDL121 is a solar chronograph created in collaboration with the Datsun 240Z. This Japanese reference corresponds to the international SSC957 model and commemorates the No. 11 Datsun 240Z that won the 1971 East African Safari Rally. It is a worldwide limited edition of 4,000 pieces, with 1,200 allocated to Japan.
Powered by Seiko’s V192 solar quartz movement, the watch features a black dial with red motorsport-inspired accents, a DATSUN logo at 12 o’clock, and a 50–240 km/h tachymeter scale. The 41.4 mm stainless steel case is fitted with curved sapphire crystal and inner anti-reflective coating. Its stainless steel bracelet has black hard-coated center links inspired by the rally car’s black bonnet.
The SBDL121 includes a 1/5-second chronograph measuring up to 60 minutes, date display, 24-hour indication, small seconds, and a power-reserve indicator. The screw caseback is engraved with an image of the winning rally car, “LIMITED EDITION” text, and an individual serial number.
